My training regime this was in disarray for a number of reasons:
- I completed a 5K run on Monday, so was ahead of schedule and did a gym session
- Tuesday’s excuse was that I had already completed three consecutive days running and I needed a rest -besides it was 31C
- Wednesday’s excuse was I couldn’t be bothered, it was too warm and I’d go to the gym in the evening – which I did
- Thursday’s excuse was that I needed to be in the office at 6:00am – even so I got up at 4:30am to go for run a but it was pouring with rain
No excuse this morning, got up at 6:15am and out the door at 6:35am. It was humid and was raining very lightly which was quite refreshing for the first K. By 1.3K it was absolutely lashing down and I was drenched, the rain drops were huge and quite uncomfortable when they hit me. This lasted for all of a minute or two and then it stopped.
Squelched my way back home, another 5K under my belt and an easy run despite the rain and the humidity.
Two weeks to go until the R4TK and I’m in the best shape that I’ve ever been leading into a race. Not from a speed perspective but from an injury (free) and mindset point of view.
11K tomorrow and an easy 30 minute on Sunday – another probable 3 runs on consecutive days within a week and a bit.
Can’t say I’m surprised at Thorpe’s failure at the 200M free, maybe disappointed that another champion has failed in his/her comeback. Maybe he can redeem himself in the 100m free although on current form he’s hardly a medal chance for London is he?
