Sure there is, but am I sticking to it?
I wanted my new running regime to be less stressful both on my mind and body. I now run when it suits me and postpone or even cancel runs. Last Sunday’s 20-30 minute run was a prime example – it didn’t happen – Harry and I managed two 7k bike rides over the weekend and I felt no need to put my body under further pressure by making myself run when I knew I’d done enough.
I’m getting very good at the “rest days”, I never miss them, so I guess I’m dedicated to some of the plan.
A trek down the Mornington Peninsular early on Tuesday morning saw Tuesday’s 4K become Wednesday’s 4K. It was a perfect morning for a run, Harry again joined me for 1.5k’s but nearing the end of the run I questioned myself on how I was ever going to get to 14.3k for the R4TK, both in fitness and in heat. This was a 7:00am run, nice and cool, R4TK is at 9:00am and always seems sunny.
Today’s 5K also didn’t happen due to an early start in the office, I now have a 5K, 8K and another easy run to get through before Sunday (one will not happen), plus a bike ride with Harry, although that’s in doubt if I don’t pull my finger out and buy a new bike or two new tyres, rims etc – the inner tubes are starting to poke through the tyre.
Thanks to Cilla for the encouragement.
